Can't get back into the game after Alt-Tab

I have Windows 10 Pro x64 and I started I joined a race, it said the race was about to end so while I waited, I Alt-Tabbed out of the game to check something on the internet, I started hearing the sounds of countdown about the race starting. I attempted to get back into the game, but any attempt was met with the Windows error sound. The game was running, I could hear the sounds of the race, but I could not maximize the game.

I have a 1366x768 screen and the game's closest resolution I could find was 1280x720 @ 16:9 aspect ratio. I don't know if that affects anything, but I wish I could play in my native resolution or at least make the game windowed full screen/windowed.

Try to hit enter when you hear error sound, worked for me it's like there is a dialog box open

Known bug. have chat open in the game and press enter to make it pop back on screen because it will try to let you type in in game chat.
